An IPP is the NUCLEAR option. It is irreversible and can go wrong. Exhaust all other options before you even consider it. .

In 2021, I had a Boston Scientific implant performed by a young, and by his own admission, relatively inexperienced (regarding implants) urologist in The Woodlands, TX. I have worked in the medical field for more than 50 years, the last 4 decades as a physician assistant, so I was thoroughly aware of the potential risks of the surgery, which sometimes includes loss of up to 1/2 inch of length. I strictly followed the post-surgical regimen, and once fully healed was appalled to discover I had lost two (2) inches of length. Even worse, the urologists, including the senior partner, refused to believe me. I changed to a different urologist who referred me to the top implant/reconstruction urologist at Baylor University in Houston. He not only believed me but had an established regimen for regaining lost length. Six months later I have regained 1 inch and believe maybe I can eke out another half inch. I had a normal 6 inch penis prior to the surgery, ended up with just 4 inches post-implant, and now am a hair over 5 inches… all measured in the same exact way, same metal ruler, and without any attempt to gain more length by the surgery. One other complication is a marked loss of sensation, leaving only the glans (tip) with normal sensation and almost none along the shaft. This is not something that can be repaired or restored. Now I only rarely can achieve orgasm manually, and never have during intercourse (that it is so short that most motion causes it to fall out doesn’t help). I accepted there were risks, but didn’t expect to have all of them (except infection), nor to be disbelieved by the urologists in my former clinic. I wish I had stayed with Trimix, despite the discomfort and rapidly deteriorating strength of the drug in vials. But that’s in the past, and I am doing what I can to regain enough length to be functional again. Fortunately, I have always enjoyed the full range of options when making love, and can live without coitus. The moral of my story: understand that every risk can happen and do for some patients… in a rare few, really bad things can occur, too.
